THE ART TRUCK - A MONA Project in the Making
Art Truck is literally a museum-on-wheels. It is the ultimate traveling show. Art Truck will bring exhibitions, workshops, and guerrilla art to the people. Much like a Book Mobile, its goal is to inspire the public by literally driving art exhibitions into Detroit neighborhoods, reaching city residents directly where they work and live.
Art Truck will encourage a sense of both socio-cultural inclusion and pride between city residents and those artists who work and exhibit here. It will inspire the public to more easily view, interpret, and share thoughts and ideas about current art and its relation to their own lives and visions. Art Truck will transform a bread truck or other such-sized vehicle: housing within it all the innovative ideas and art, both big and small, of a contemporary art museum.
And also allow the ability for Detroit art to travel outside the region, to other cities in Michigan and across the country.
