An Open Call: to exhibit and

to win the

MONA PRIZE 2016

The Museum of New Art is announcing this open search for the next big thing in art. No entry fee! A one-day exhibition and art sale! Asking artists to submit 1 work each! And 3 of the exhibiting artists will win the MONA PRIZE 2016.

AWARDS:

  • Three of the exhibiting artists will be awarded the annual MONA Prize for 2016 and given the opportunity to have solo exhibitions in our 2016-2017 season of shows.

ENTRY PROCEDURE:

  • Email title of work, dimensions, medium, price and artist name to: detroitmona@gmail.com

  • Attach to this: one jpeg file of your work to be submitted (file name simply artist name and title)

  • Also, include your current address and your own email.

  • No Entry Fee, but MONA will accept a 20% donation from the price of each sale.

  • All Work Must Be For Sale and Hand-Delivered On The Day Of Exhibition and Installed between 2pm and 5pm. The Exhibition lasts from 6pm until 10pm.

  • All Work must be ready to Hang and Sale.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • This all-media show and sale is open to all artists 18 years and older. Artists may submit 1 piece of art. All pieces should be sized for a domestic setting. All works must be for sale, ready to hang and may not be removed until the end of the show - after 10pm the day of exhibition.

ENTRY FORMAT FOR ARTWORK:

  • A jpeg image of each work to be submitted by email with a maximum size of 1.5MB and 300dpi. The image file name should include artist's first name, last name, and title of the artwork as listed in the email.

SALES:

  • All work submitted MUST BE FOR SALE at the price sent with the email registration. No changes in price or substitution of art can be made after entry. The Museum of New Art, a nonprofit organization, will retain a suggested 20% sales commission.

PRESENTATION:

  • All two-dimensional pieces must be framed and ready for hanging with an attached wire or hook. The jurors reserve the right to remove any artwork not accurately represented by submitted digital images.

DELIVERY:

  • All work must be delivered by hand the day of the exhibition: October 24 between 2pm and 5pm. The work will be installed with the help of the artist. At the end of the exhibition, after 10pm, that work that hasn’t sold may be removed by the artist.

PICK-UP:

  • The artist will remove, if unsold, his work after the exhibition closes at 10pm.

  • All submitting artists will be notified within 48 hours of their registration. Reminder, due to this acceptance procedure - earliest entries will get some preference.

  • October 24th: Delivery and installation of art. All Work Must Be For Sale and Hand-Delivered On The Day Of Exhibition!

  • October 24th: Unsold work will be taken by artists after 10pm on the Day of the Exhibition. The same applies to the buyers of work.

  • A check,to each artist will be sent, for the sale price minus 20%, within two weeks of the exhibition.
