ART ROOM & ARTIST FILM SERIES

ART21 ARTIST FILM SERIES:

ART ROOM is the Museum of New Art's new gallery under the direction of Jessica Hopkins. It's purpose is to help provide funding for future museum exhibitions, projects, and overall operating costs.

ART ROOM is open every Saturday and Sunday from 12pm until 5pm.

It is located at 2501 Rochester Court, Troy, 48083.

FILM SCHEDULE (free to the public):

The Museum of New Art (MONA), in collaboration with PBS, will screen the first 6 seasons of ART21.

Over the past decade, ART21 has established itself as the preeminent chronicler of contemporary art and artists through its Peabody Award-winning biennial television series, "Art in the Twenty-First Century." The nonprofit organization has used the power of digital media to introduce millions of people of all ages to contemporary art and artists and has created a new paradigm for teaching and learning about the creative process.

Each Day:

- 1pm, 5 films by French artist Elene Usdin.

- 3pm, Art 21 First Season, Place:

How does contemporary art address the idea of place? How do artists working today reveal and question commonly held assumptions about land, home, and national identity? The "Art in the Twenty-First Century" documentary “Place” explores these questions through the work of Laurie Anderson, Richard Serra, Sally Mann, Barry McGee, Margaret Kilgallen, and Pepón Osorio.
